Unique quality content is very important for successful blogging. That is why no wonder there are many content hunters who a sniffing for new quality blog content. Once you have published a unique post - in a matter of 3-4 days you see plenty of other blogs using your blog content (some with giving a backlink in reward, some - just cut off the resource of the article).
This is an absolutely real case story for every successful blogger.
The solution of this problem may be really out of the box, but simple. Most of the content theft from your blog is done via RSS. This is a very useful and simple technology, and some may use it to harvest fresh content in the blogging medium.
The tip is to keep most of your content out of the RSS feed of your blogs.
Let's say you have created a new post about Golf Clubs. Instead of doing it like a post, publish this new content as a new page. And then make a short post saying "Hi folks who are readign this blog. This is my new article Golf Clubs" and a backlink to the page with major content.
In this way you can keep your blogs growing with fresh content, and your "announce posts" will enjoy the advantages of RSS and pinging.
However, an important factor to consider would be the issue of balance - blog content protection VS blog content readability. It is obvious that less people will be reading your RSS feeds - if the feeds do not come with full materials, many RSS readers of your blog may not be happy about getting just announcement posts all the time. So this is another point where blog owner weight content security and readability of the blog.
