Is your Google Adwords PPC campaign draining your pockets dry? Are you getting many clicks but no sale? Are you starting to think that perhaps you are not cut out for this business?

OR, do you feel the PPC guide you purchased has made things seem a little too easy?

The reality is, running a Google Adwords Pay-per-click campaign is no longer as easy as it used to be. The high competition for popular keywords and the highly sophisticated Google algorithm, calls for a need to use PPC strategies to beat Google AdWords.

Essentially, your Google Adwords PPC campaign may not be optimized for the following reasons:

1. The minimum cost per click for your keyword is raised to $5.

With such high bid prices, it won't be long before you realize that you need to spend a fortune on advertising. What's more, bidding for $5 doesn't mean that your ad will appear on the first page, particularly for competitive keywords.

2. Poor Ad Copy

If Google thinks that the words used on your PPC ad are irrelevant to your search keywords, a higher minimum cost-per-click may be imposed. In addition, relevance also affects your ad ranking and the number of impressions.

3. Poor Landing Page Quality

Google doesn't like "selfish" landing pages with few outgoing links, or irrelevant content. In fact, Google imposes a Quality Score for landing pages. A low quality score causes Google to hike up the minimum cost-per-click price for keywords in a campaign, and decrease the number of ad impressions.

This is a problem if your PPC ad directs customers to a poor quality affiliate landing page, over which you have no control over.

4. Under-optimized keyword combinations in keyword groups

Believe it or not, Google checks the combinations of keywords you use for your campaign, and compares this with your PPC ad. This affects your ad ranking, and also the number of impressions shown for each specific keyword.

5. Competition

Large corporations with deep pockets, or seasoned internet marketers may be willing to spend top dollar for top ad rankings. Unless you have a huge budget to compete, it will be a challenge to out-bid the big boys.

How then do we use Google AdWords to our advantage?

You need an Adwords PPC guide with a PPC play strategy that is intelligent, holistic and effective. Some PPC guides in the market, explores Google Adwords usage from an elementary level. This is inadequate for success in a Pay-per-click campaign.
