Keyword analysis research is essential before you start any website. When you build your dream home you need to make sure that the foundations are strong and keyword analysis research works exactly the same when you are planning a website.

You may hit the number one spot at Google, but who cares if nobody is looking for your keywords ? There is nothing more depressing than spending months writing quality content for your new website and then finding out that nobody is interested in your website !
Keyword analysis research is actually pretty simple, just give people what they want ! I do not recommend using free keyword analysis research tools as the data is often skewed and the criteria may be inaccurate. After using many free and paid options I always seem to come back to my old favourite, Wordtracker.
Wordtracker is not perfect but the most accurate on a consistent basis. The main theme should be analysing how many times your keyword has been searched for on average and I use the Google 24 hour predict option in wordtracker to simply determine the popularity of a keyword. If your main keyword gets only 1 search per day then it might be best to look at other keywords that have more potential.
Your ideal keyword analysis research will be a high search keyword phrase with little competition and these are pretty easy to find if you dig deep enough. There is not much point in targeting a highly searched phrase such as mortgage as you will be up against millions of competing sites.

I recommend aiming for keywords that have less than 50,000 competing sites, if your content is unique and good quality you should be aiming for the top 10 at Google.
