You just finished your first blog post. Wow. Now how do you get it out there on Web 2.0? Google bought a feed service called Feedburner. If you go to Wikipedia and look up Feedburner, you will find comments about tracking viewers and direct RSS feed from blogs. It is all about providing your blog updates automatically to subscribers. Visitors to your blog can get an RSS feed by subscribing. One of the best providers of this service is Feedburner.

OK, that's some of the why. If you have a new blog, then you want to know the how. Go to the feedburner website. Click on register. You will be redirected to a signup page. Pick a user name (make it obscure as most of the common names have been taken). Pick a password. Specify a personal question and the answer. Click sign in. You will be redirected to your myfeeds page. As you have not burned any feeds yet, there will be none listed. After you have some burned feeds, then they will be listed on this page with the feed title, subscribers and site visitors.

To burn your first feed, type the full url of your blog where it says, burn a feed right this instant. For now ignore the podcasting and click next. You will be redirected to a page titled, Identigy Feed Source. Chose the RSS source, the seond choice offered if you are using Blogger. Click next. Now you are at a page titled, Welcome! Let us burn a feed for you. Ensure the title and the feed address are correct. Press activate feed. Now you are at a page title, Congrats, Your Feedburner feed is now live. Press next. Now you are at Get More Gusto. Check the box for, I want more have Feedburner track... Press next. You are now at the feed management page for the blog feed you just burned.

This is the page from which you can upgrade your feed with extras. To reach this page another time simply go to back to the home page of Feedburner. Sign in with your username and password. You should now be at the myfeeds page which lists all of your feeds. To go to the feed management page for a specific feed, click on the name of the feed in the list.

To complete most of the details associated with burning a feed, go to the feed management page for that feed. Click on the publicize tab. In the body of the page, make it easy to subscribe section, chickletize your website, click on the link, friendly graphic. You will be redirected to the page, Chicklet chooser. Leave the larger icon selected and scroll down to the bottom of the page. At the line, use as a widget in, use the drop down to select, blogger. Press go.

You are redirected to the Add Page Element page at Blogger. Select the correct blog in the first line. Edit the title line to your preference, I usually leave it blank. Click on, edit content link. Go down to the last line of code. I change the copy from 'Subscribe in a reader' to 'Get RSS Feed'. This is optional and your choice. Press, Add Widget. You are redirected to your blogger page, Add and Arrange Page Elements. View your blog. If you want to make changes, return to the Add and Arrange Page Elements.

Go to you Blogger dashboard, at the blog for which you have burned the feed, select the Settings tab. At Settings page, select, Site Feed. At Site Feed, be certain that allow blog feeds is set at full. In the post feed url redirect section, type your feed url. This can be confirmed by returning to your myfeeds page. If you hover over the feed icon to the left of the feed you are working on, then the feed url will be shown. When entering the url, the total url must be included.

There are additional options and extra bells and whistles with Feedburner and related services. If you follow this burn procedure every time you create a blog, you will put your blog in a position to be active in Web 2.0.

At 60 years old, Mike A., Mike Anderson to most, has had most of the corners knocked off. He certainly would never claim the status of wise but he has seen or experienced a large slice of living.Mike was rescued from an early demise by DJ, his beautiful wife. Without her love and subtle guidance, he would have certainly been trampled by the vagaries of a life lived too hard and too fast. Before marriage, Mike was like a racehorse who was ridden hard and put up wet. Fortunately DJ was there to ensure that he didn't flounder.Over 40 years have presented many opportunities in many fields: marketing oil products for Exxon, marketing plastics for Exxon, designing and marketing industrial water treatment equipment for AWSL, managing AWSL, creating and operating Gerin Investments in standardbred horse racing, creating and operating AAI also with industrial water treatment products, USA Today supervisor, creator and manager of Flamingo Contracting Inc. in home construction, and now internet marketing both article marketing and coaching. It has been quite a ride and is expected to be even more exciting in the future.
