DIRECTORY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Modified By host on 1/2/2008 10:11:24 PM)

Well friends today I need your help.I have been trying to get my website submitted to the DMOZ directory for the last 6 months. The submission process is as follows. You read the rules and guidelines and submit your website to the directory manually.Once the submission is done a message is flashed across the screen that reads "Your submission has been approved .It will be reviewed by an administrator before it is added to our list."After this is done another message props up as a hint saying that for quicker reviewing of your website it is advisable that you sign up as an editor to dmoz as the review might take up to 4-6 weeks.Signing up as an editor will get the review done faster.Once you sign up as an editor the message is flashed again saying "your request will be reviewed by an already existing editor before being accepted."This might take upto 4-6 weeks.

As it is I am tired and have lost ideas as to how I could get my website listed on Dmoz. Kindly help me.

Re: NEED DIRECTORY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Dmoz.org Directory itself is uncertain. You may get listed in just 2 weeks span or may have to wait months after months to get listed in Dmoz.org. Sigining up as an editor don't help much. Even I posted a Discussion on this topic on Blog catalog ...Here is what others have to say:

"most bloggers and new sites wont be listed on dmoz ..More..

Re: NEED DIRECTORY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

do u think paying to submit to yahoo directory helps? and then send a submission to Dmoz indicating that they are listed in Yahoo. I think it sends a signal to the Dmoz editor..that if they can be listed in yahoo, they should also be listed in dmoz.

Re: NEED DIRECTORY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

DMOZ is very slow at listing a site. A couple of tips:

1. Make sure you submit once only. Submitting more than once will get you penalized.

2. Make sure your site content fully ready before you submit because you only get one shot in most cases (see #2 above).

3. Make sure you submit to the right and single category. In some categories, you can find the name of the editor in-charge and you can email that editor to see if he/she can speed up the review for it. Signing yourself up as an editor will give you access to email other editors.

To Justin's question, if you're listed in a reputed directory like Yahoo.com, Thumbshots.net or About.com, you may be able to affect the editor's decision (#3 above).
